The UN Foundation was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist
Ted Turner’s historic $1 billion gift to support UN causes and activities.

The UN Foundation builds and implements public-private partnerships to
address the world’s most pressing problems, and also works to broaden
support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach. The UN Foundation is
a public charity.

The UN Foundation strengthens and supports the UN and its causes through a
blend of advocacy, grantmaking, and partnerships. Wherever possible, we align
these core organizational assets behind the large-scale problems we address.
The Better World Campaign (BWC) works to strengthen the relationship
between the United States and the United Nations through outreach,
communications, and advocacy. We encourage U.S. leadership to
enhance the UN’s ability to carry out its invaluable international work on
behalf of peace, progress, freedom, and justice.  In these efforts, we
engage policy makers, the media, and the American public to increase
awareness of and support for the United Nations.
The United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) is a center for innovative
programs to engage Americans in issues of global concern, from education and HIV/AIDS to peace,
security and international law. Its educational and humanitarian campaigns, including teaching
students in urban schools, clearing minefields and providing school-based support for children
living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa, allow people to make a global impact at the local
level. A not-for-profit organization, UNA-USA encourages United States leadership in the United
Nations and is a part of the World Federation of United Nations Associations.
A Place Where You Loan to Low Income Entrepreneurs
Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to
unique entrepreneurs around the globe.

The people you see on Kiva's site are real individuals. When you browse entrepreneurs' profiles on
Kiva, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great
strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their
community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal
updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to
someone else.
